A glass splashback is a single continuous surface with no grout lines. In a kitchen that means nowhere for grease and limescale to collect, and a wipe-down rather than a scrub. Behind a hob it is the most practical surface available, and it is the reason glass has largely replaced tiling in new kitchen installations.
We template the run, including cut-outs for sockets, switches and extractor fixings, and manufacture to that template. The panel arrives ready to fit, with polished edges and pre-drilled apertures in the right places.
Glass behind a hob must be toughened. We use toughened safety glass throughout, which handles the thermal shock of a gas or induction hob without issue.
What affects the price of a glass splashback
Splashbacks are priced by area and complexity:
- Size of the run — a single hob panel versus a full worktop-to-wall-unit run.
- Number of cut-outs — sockets, switches and extractor fixings each need templating and machining before toughening.
- Colour and finish — painted to any RAL or paint-brand match, mirrored, tinted, or low-iron for true colour accuracy.
- Glass type — standard toughened or low-iron. Low-iron matters if you are matching a specific pale colour, since standard glass shifts it slightly green.
- Access and wall condition — a straight run onto flat plaster is simpler than a return around a corner.

Common questions about glass splashbacks
Can I have any colour?
Yes. We match to any RAL reference or to a specific paint-brand colour if you bring us the name or a sample. Mirrored and tinted finishes are also available.
Why does low-iron glass matter for colour?
Standard glass has a green tint that shifts the colour behind it, which is most obvious with whites, greys and pale blues. Low-iron glass is essentially clear, so the colour you choose is the colour you get. If you are matching cabinetry, specify it.
Is glass safe behind a gas hob?
Yes, provided it is toughened. Toughened glass handles the thermal cycling without stressing. We do not supply untoughened glass for splashback use.
What about sockets and switches?
We template their exact positions and machine the apertures before the glass is toughened, since toughened glass cannot be cut or drilled afterwards. This is why templating rather than measuring matters.
How is it fixed to the wall?
Usually bonded with a suitable adhesive onto a flat, sound wall. On uneven walls the surface may need making good first, which we will tell you at templating stage rather than on installation day.
Can it go behind an existing kitchen?
Yes, splashbacks are frequently fitted to existing kitchens as an upgrade from tiling. The old tiles come off and the wall is made good first, normally by your own tradesperson.
How long does it take?
Templating takes under an hour. Manufacture is usually within a week, and fitting is normally a single short visit.
