uPVC is the practical choice for back doors, side doors and utility entrances, where you want good thermal performance and low maintenance without the cost of aluminium or composite. For front doors it works too, though composite is often the better option where the door is the main entrance and appearance carries more weight.
We supply single doors, French door pairs and sliding patio doors, in white, coloured and woodgrain foil finishes, with multi-point locking as standard.
Every door is made to the opening rather than trimmed from a standard size, which matters in older properties where frames are rarely square.
What affects the price of a uPVC door
Doors are priced per unit. The variables:
- Door type — a single back door, a door with a side screen, a French door pair and a sliding patio door are quite different builds.
- Size — particularly whether the opening is standard or needs a bespoke frame.
- Glazing — solid panel, part-glazed or fully glazed, plus the glass specification.
- Hardware and security — lock specification, anti-snap cylinders, handles and letterplate.
- Finish — white, coloured or woodgrain foil, and whether the finish differs inside and out.
- Threshold — standard or low-threshold for step-free access.

Common questions about uPVC doors
uPVC, composite or aluminium for a front door?
uPVC is the most economical and performs well. Composite is more thermally efficient and generally more secure, and looks more substantial. Aluminium gives slimmer frames and more glass. For a front door, composite is often the best value; for a back door, uPVC usually makes more sense.
Are uPVC doors secure?
Modern uPVC doors have multi-point locking, reinforced frames and anti-snap cylinders. Specified properly they are secure. The weak point on older doors is almost always the cylinder rather than the door itself.
Can I get a uPVC door in a colour?
Yes. Anthracite grey, black, green, blue, cream, and woodgrain foils. You can have a different finish inside and out, which is common where people want a dark exterior and white internally.
My uPVC door is stiff or dropped, can it be repaired?
Often yes. A dropped door is usually a hinge adjustment, and stiff locking is often a worn cylinder or a strip that needs realignment. We will tell you honestly if a repair will do rather than selling you a replacement.
What is a low threshold?
A reduced-height threshold that removes most of the step, making access easier for wheelchairs, pushchairs and anyone unsteady. There is a small trade-off in weather performance, which we will explain at survey.
Do you supply patio and French doors in uPVC?
Yes, both. Sliding patio doors suit openings where you cannot swing a door inward or outward. French doors suit narrower openings and give a full clear opening when both leaves are open.
Do I get a FENSA certificate?
Yes, for external door replacements. Every installation is registered on the national scheme.
