What affects the price of uPVC windows
uPVC windows are priced per opening. The main variables:
- Size and quantity — a full-house replacement carries a better per-unit rate than one or two windows.
- Style — fixed lights are the most economical; casement, tilt-and-turn, bay and sash-style cost more.
- Opening configuration — how many panes open, and which way.
- Glass specification — A+ rated double glazing as standard, with triple glazing, acoustic and obscure options.
- Colour and finish — white is standard; coloured and woodgrain foils carry a premium and a slightly longer lead time.
- Access — upper floors and scaffold requirements affect the installation cost.

Common questions about uPVC windows
uPVC or aluminium?
uPVC costs less and performs well thermally. Aluminium gives slimmer frames, more glass in the same opening and a longer frame life. If budget is the deciding factor, uPVC is the sensible choice, and we will say so.
Do uPVC windows still go yellow?
Modern profiles are far more UV-stable than the products that gave uPVC that reputation. Coloured and foiled finishes hold up particularly well. It is no longer a reason to rule the material out.
What does A+ rated mean?
It is a Window Energy Rating band, running from A++ down to G, covering the whole window rather than just the glass. A+ is a strong standard for a domestic replacement. The exact figure for your specification is confirmed on your quote.
Can I get uPVC windows in colours?
Yes. Anthracite grey, black, cream, and woodgrain foils including oak and rosewood. Foiled finishes cost more than white and usually add a few days to the lead time.
Will new windows stop condensation?
They will stop condensation forming on cold single-glazed panes. They will not fix condensation caused by high humidity and poor ventilation, which is a different problem. If we think ventilation is the real issue, we will say so at survey.
Do I need trickle vents?
Current Building Regulations require background ventilation on replacement windows in most circumstances. We specify what your property needs rather than leaving you to discover it at sign-off.
Do I get a FENSA certificate?
Yes. Every installation is registered, so the certificate is on the national register. Your buyer’s solicitor will ask for it when you sell.
