Blinds sealed inside the glazed unit. No dust, no cleaning, no cords. Fitted across London and surrounding areas.

Integral blinds sealed within the glass

Zeenee Aluminium supplies integral blinds within doors and windows across London and the surrounding areas. Backed by a 10-year guarantee.

Integral blinds sit inside the sealed cavity between the two panes of glass. Because the cavity is sealed, the blind never collects dust, never needs cleaning, and cannot be pulled, bent or damaged by children or pets.

They are most useful on bifold and sliding doors, where a conventional blind is genuinely awkward. A standard blind across a four-panel bifold has to be lifted every time you open the doors, and it flaps whenever there is a breeze. An integral blind moves with the panel because it is part of the panel.

Operation is by magnetic slider on the frame, or motorised with a remote or wall switch. Motorised is worth considering on doors you use often, or on any unit above reachable height.

The one thing to be clear about: integral blinds must be specified when the unit is manufactured. They cannot be retrofitted into an existing sealed unit. If you think you might want them, decide before ordering the doors.

What affects the price of integral blinds

Integral blinds are priced per glazed unit, as an addition to the door or window:

  • Number and size of units — each panel that needs a blind is a separately manufactured unit.
  • Operation — magnetic manual slider, motorised with remote, or motorised hardwired to a wall switch.
  • Blind type — venetian style with tilt and raise, or pleated.
  • Colour — a range of slat colours, most commonly white, silver, grey and black.
  • Power — motorised units need a power supply, which may mean an electrician’s visit.

Because they form part of the glazed unit, they are quoted alongside the doors or windows rather than separately. We give you a written fixed price with no obligation.

Common questions about integral blinds

Can integral blinds be fitted to my existing doors?
No. The blind sits inside the sealed cavity and the unit is manufactured with it in place. Retrofitting means replacing the glazed units entirely, which is sometimes worth doing but is a different job and cost.

Do they ever break?
The mechanism is sealed away from dust and moisture, which is the main reason conventional blinds fail. If a motorised unit does fail, the repair means replacing the glazed unit, so it is worth having the guarantee. Manual magnetic operation has fewer parts to go wrong.

Manual or motorised?
Manual magnetic sliders work well and cost less. Motorised is worth it on doors you open constantly, on units above reachable height, or where you want all the panels to move together. Motorised needs a power supply planned in advance.

Do they affect the thermal performance?
The unit is still a sealed double glazed unit and performs as one. The cavity is slightly wider to accommodate the blind. We confirm the U-value on your quote.

Will they collect dust?
No. That is the main practical reason people choose them. Sealed cavity, no dust, no cleaning, no cords for a child to reach.

What colours are available?
White, silver, grey, black and a small range of others depending on the system. Slat colour is chosen at order stage.

Can I have them in a roof lantern?
Yes, and it is one of the better uses, because cleaning or replacing a conventional blind at roof height is genuinely difficult. Motorised is the sensible choice there.
